The Second Life Media Zoo Development Begins!

On arrival to the Media Zoo Island I was introduced to Matt Wheeler keeper of the Media Zoo;

Matthew began working for the Beyond Distance Research Alliance in August 2006 after being appointed ‘Keeper of the Media Zoo’; as part of his diverse role he is currently leading the SEAL project which is researching the application of Virtual Worlds as a possible preferred future for formal education.

Below you can see the initial design of the dome structures; the initial concept was to recreate each quadrant of the media zoo website in the form of a dome. Please view the Media Zoo website.

The Media Zoo’s presence in Second Life is as a part of the SEAL project which will elicit viable and preferred futures for learning in formal education through and with the Second Life environment. It is hoped the SEAL project will create communities of learners, teachers, technologists and creative practitioners who will interact in the Second Life Media Zoo.
