Bio

Andrew Jinman’s interest in immersive environments grew from a passion for the dungeons and dragons game, World of Warcraft. His interest in education in synthetic worlds developed during his undergraduate studies in Digital Art and Technology at Plymouth University, where learning in Second Life was the subject of his dissertation. Andrew now works for Twofour Learning, where he has been leading the Media Zoo in Second Life collaborative project with the University of Leicester. He has written on the theme of the ‘virtual classroom’ for a number of journals, and is currently a guest author at the Terra Nova blog.

Personal

I have a keen interest in films, and explaining and expanding my ideas in a non linear, but creative way. I enjoy media as a whole, but I particularly enjoy the film industry; understanding the way in which they have been edited and created and aimed at a particular audience. My hobbies include surfing, photography and snowboarding, ideally I would love to combine my hobbies, to produce a series of photographs focusing around these sports.

I am an enthusiastic person, with a passion for creativity and desire to succeed. My degree has given me a detailed overview of relevant activities within media, focusing specifically on web applications, flash animation, video editing and creative design techniques. From my time studying the course I have built up a number of skills which I believe will be extremely valuable through my carrer. http://www.contemporary-media.co.uk/ is a continuous on going project but the majority of my work can be found here.
